Event Description: A five-mile run at sunrise across the largest suspension bridge in North America, the Mackinac Bridge.
Event objective: Highlight the importance of regular physical activity and recognize those who embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Key Planning Tasks:
Collaborate with team members and partner organizations to solidify logistics
Communicate with 400 participants through e-mail, mail and Bridge Run blog
Organize pre-run pasta dinner for 500 securing venue and catering
Coordinate transportation and lodging for staff
Delegate event day tasks to team members and volunteers
Manage content, edit and design yearbook for participants

Participants included: 400 runners representing 64 Michigan counties, and four athletes who are wheelers

Media Relations Tactic: Select ten participants
from across the state to serve as Fitness Ambassadors, or role models
and spokespeople, for the event. Share their personal stories of
running and fitness with media outlets in an effort to encourage and
motivate others to be active.
